NYCC: A.I. IN ENTERTAINMENT: THE PERFORMER’S PERSPECTIVE
I got to participate in an extremely important and informative press conference. As actors, writers, artists, and voice actors are all fighting to protect themselves in this Artificial Intelligence landscape, the National Association of Voice Actors had a integral presence at this year’s New York Comic Con, with a panel and a special press conference where professionals delved into the world of voice acting and navigating these dangerous and tricky A.I. waters.
National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) is joined by SAG-AFTRA Duncan Crabtree-National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator, will be joining NAVA once again for the AI in Entertainment: The Performers’ Perspective panel.
NAVA is a non-profit association created to advocate and promote the advancement of the voice acting industry through action, education, inclusion, and benefits.
Launched in November 2022, NAVA is the first voice over association to offer access to nationwide group healthcare for voice actors.
Here is part 1 of the lengthy conversation, but I insist you watch all of the conference as they touched upon some serious topics in regards to likeness, contracts, protecting yourself and using A.I. wisely and safely. Catch me at 12:30

Moderator: Linsay Rousseau (Transformers: War for Cybertron, God of War Ragnarok)
Cissy Jones (The Owl House, Transformers Earthrise)
Tim Friedlander (Record of Ragnarok, president/founder of NAVA)
Duncan Crabtree-Ireland (National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator for SAG/AFTRA)
Andi Norris (Resident Evil 8: Village, Star Wars Vader Immortal)
Courtenay Taylor (Mass Effect series, Resident Evil series)
Sarah Elmaleh (actor/ director mostly video games)
AI and machine learning are revolutionizing the world. Entertainment performers must adapt to this groundbreaking technology that can not only replicate their voices and movements but also feed machine learning to create entirely new characters. With the support of the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) and SAG-AFTRA, this will be a discussion on how existing legal structures can be used in some areas and how new standards need to be built for performers and producers to collaborate on great products while still protecting individual rights to performance and publicity.
(NAVA) National Association of Voice Actors To educate performers and their representatives around the future implications of single or multi-use vocal replication software and/or AI/Synthetic voice
