“I Hate Fairyland”; currently my new favorite comic book is written and drawn by New York Times Best Selling cartoonist Skottie Young. Don’t let the cute characters and pretty bright technicolor rainbows fool you. This hilarious yet dark twisted and extremely violent fairytale is not intended for children!!! Think Carebears and the Powerpuff Girls meets Fight Club!!

In this morbid bloody adventure series we follow Gertrude a sweet little girl who once wished she could visit a magical world filled with wonder and laughter. Well her wish came true, and twenty-seven years later she is still stuck there. Although she still physically looks like a six year old, she has aged during her time in Fairyland. Trapped in a kids body, Gert is now full of hate and madness. With a foul mouth and bad temper she continues on her quest to find the key that will release her from Fairyland and return her to the real world.

In a magical world of bunnies, rainbows, and an island made of ice cream, Gertrude wreaks havoc with her battle axe chopping, slicing, and splattering whoever or whatever comes in her way!

 

The first issue was published Oct. 14, 2015. You can now purchase (digital or print)  I Hate Fairyland Vol. 1: Madly Ever After; published Apr. 20, 2016 which collects issues 1-5.

Issue #6 will release on June 15, 2016. There will also be a coloring book for adults releasing on June 1, 2016.
