Birds-of-Prey-Movie

After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.

Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn is finally getting her own movie – and the Joker is nowhere in sight.

Robbie starred as Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad, and the spinoff is described as a film in which she assembles a girl gang of friends to take on a bad guy. Ewan McGregor is playing the Batman villain Black Mask in the film, and Robbie’s other co-stars include Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as  Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain. Cathy Yan is directing the ensemble.

Although it wasn’t titled as such, the comic book emancipation of Harley Quinn was a fan-favorite element of DC’s popular Harley Quinn series in 2016; in the 25th issue of the series, Harley finally ended her relationship with the Joker for good when she confronts him after years apart. “I hate ya for what ya bring out in me,” she tells him as the two fight. “I’m not yet toy anymore. Unnerstand? You did mean somethin’ ta me one time, but that time is over.” The development came after the series established that the romance between the two was abusive, and removing the Joker from Harley’s life was a long overdue moment. It certainly didn’t hurt her, as the character continued to grow in popularity after that point.- Hollywood Reporter

For those not familiar with the super heroine team Birds of Prey:

Operating out of the Clock Tower, a maximum-security location in Gotham equipped with the high-tech Oracle mainframe, the Birds of Prey are a covert ops and crimefighting team. Since criminals often escape domestic justice by hopping borders, the team led by Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) and the Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) operates internationally. Their combined skills—computer talents, martial arts and hand-to-hand combat—make them a balanced and effective group.- DC COMICS

venom 2

Plot unknown. Sequel to the 2018 film ‘Venom’.

Director:

Andy Serkis

Writer:

Kelly Marcel

We’ve got a little update on the status of Venom 2 straight from director Andy Serkis. Surprisingly, for such a major blockbuster sequel, things have been relatively quiet. We know the movie has been filming and certain plot details, mostly ones that were strongly suggested in the first movie or confirmed by casting announcements, have made their way online. But that’s about it. Serkis, unfortunately, isn’t ready to divulge much else at this time.

What we know for sure is that Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, will be the main villain, presumably the “nemesis” that Andy Serkis is referring to. The post-credit scene in Venom revealed Woody Harrellson, in a memorable red wig, as the notorious Marvel Comics serial killer, locked away in prison. Kasady will, somehow, be making his escape to do battle with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom in the sequel. Naomie Harris is also on board as Shriek, Carnage’s girlfriend from the comics.

carnage

Recent rumored plot details suggest that Shriek will help Cletus escape from prison, but that has yet to be confirmed. Michelle Williams will also be reprising her role from the first movie. Beyond that, much remains mysterious. – MOVIE WEB
